“Family is everything.”
___
Agung Danurdara is the eldest son of the second generation of the Danurdara family, kings of the Indonesian property and construction world. Unlike his four younger siblings, who led easier lives, Agung always faced the harshest treatment from his father. This is because Agung is lined up to be the successor of his family business, fraught with competition and mafia conspiracies. His father hoped that Agung, who was very smart, would protect the family from their enemies’ shadows.
After a forced marriage to Maya Kahiyang, his high school best friend, one problem after another plagues Agung and his family. His ex-girlfriend, a famous actress and the daughter of his family’s business enemy, Sukma Harjo, mysteriously dies at Agung’s wedding reception. This triggers a heated conflict between the Danurdara family and the Harjo family. The alliance of the Harjo family and the Rajaswa family, the main competitors of the Danurdara family, shocks them and leads to the murder of Agung’s mother.
Revenge, betrayal, a strained relationship with his wife, his family’s business woes, his youngest sister’s psychological struggles, his father’s debts, and the forbidden love between his sister and the only son of the Rajaswa family force Agung to fight alone to keep his family intact.
Can Agung Danurdara survive the storm that threatens his family, relying solely on his wits? And who is Agung’s adversary in this battle of intellect?
Set in the 1980s, this story depicts the life struggles of Agung Danurdara, the father of Raga Danurdara in “Suamiku, Pembunuhku?”. It explores what makes him so feared by many in the future—an invincible genius who placed his son, Raga, on the throne of wealth and power, yet also the source of his son’s greatest life challenges.
The novel “Prelude” serves as a prequel to “Suamiku, Pembunuhku?”. For a deeper understanding of the Danurdara family, it’s recommended to read “Suamiku, Pembunuhku?” before delving into “Prelude”.
