ONCE UPON A TIME

Once upon a time…

In the waning breaths of last December, you embarked on an eternal journey

Leaving me stranded, abandoned to confront the world’s relentless gaze alone

Amidst the beads of sweat, I grappled fiercely for survival

Bearing the burden of each breath

Life now wears a daunting shroud without your presence

“Forge ahead with your existence,” they whispered easily

“In the realm of solitude, his joy would wane at the sight of your emptiness,” they crafted, anchored in the assumption of dual worlds

I adhered faithfully to their precepts, navigating the labyrinth of a 1001-night fable

Yet, death remains immutable

The constricting solitude, not a mere figment of self-persuasion

Now witness, gaze upon me…

Continuously seeking the silhouette that once cradled me

I invoke a curse upon the grasp of death that spirited you away

You, my rib destined for eternity, now severed

Sadly, the ‘you and me’ narrative, it seems, is but a transient fiction

This ‘we,’ a fleeting tale, not etched in the stone of eternity.
